DECEMBER 15 ~ He Came to Give Us Freedom

By Chris Baxter

Luke 4:18

Jesus said, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor. He has sent Me to proclaim release to the cap- tives, and recovery to the blind, to set free those who are downtrodden.”

Galatians 5:1

It was for freedom that Christ set us free; therefore keep standing firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery.

John 8:31-32

Jesus said, “If you abide in My word, then you are truly disciples of Mine; and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.”

Psalm 142:7

Bring my soul out of prison,
So that I may give thanks to Your name; The righteous will surround me,
For You will deal bountifully with me.

Romans 6:6-7, 11

Knowing this, that our old self was crucified with Him, that our body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin; for he who has died is freed from sin...Even so consider yourselves to be dead to sin, but alive to God in Jesus Christ

My Child,
I came to give you freedom. Do not let the worries of this world entangle you. I am bigger than your problems, and I am stronger than your addictions. Give them to me, so that I can then fill your empty hands and heart with abundant, yet intangible riches: for- giveness, redemption, and the power of My Spirit.

Daily Prayer

You can't please God without this...

And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. Hebrews 11:6

Dear Lord,

Help us to realize that more than anything else (more than our money, more than our good works, more than our attempts at flawless living), you desire faith. Faith IN YOU, then as a result, our actions will flow as a sincere offering. May we believe in all of who you are so that we can walk in your ways, one dependent step at a time. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
